New broadband Supplier

Obviously thread is old now to the point you've probably got a solution chosen, but I would recommend Coconnect for a leased line. They've been great for us, and well priced.

although we've had our issues we still have a lot of happy customers and they haven't been affected by the issues you've mentioned. If everyone was so unhappy we wouldn't have a business as everyone would have left, which they haven't.

I'd like to vouch for @SchoolsBroadband. Yes they've had issues which have been widely discussed on here, but other companies have issues which we don't know about simply because they don't get discussed on here as they aren't involved in the forum. There are few companies as happy to get directly involved with it's customers as SchoolsBroadband.

How many of them are on multi-year contracts though?

I know that my at my previous job, due to the switch to Netsweeper, it was just a matter of the existing contract expiring before they were definitely going to look elsewhere.

In my current role, the weakness of the Netsweeper solution has certainly made us contemplate future solutions once the current contract expires.

 

It's not that people aren't unhappy, its that you have good lawyers writing your contracts and a history of claiming that you're going to "evaluate our legal options" especially when it comes to Lightspeed Systems.

We don't believe in bundling internet and filtering under a single contract, but we do filtering and recommend Evolving Networks for the ISP side of things. Please do in touch if you'd like to discuss your options ([email protected]).

Basically it's Exa and Schoolsbroadband for hosted filtering.

 

You can of course stop using their filtering and install your own if it turns out to not work.

To be fair, that is true.

The connectivity works, but I would definitely look at separating your filtering (use a cloud based solution perhaps) and your internet provision. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Cant comment on SchoolBroadband with onsite filtering. But avoid like the plague if going for their hosted filtering. Unless you want all your staff and pupils to take part in their Netweeper beta.
