DJ-1701 Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) Well they've already increased pricing this year... what I am worrying about is if they will be keeping the free version... Edited January 9, 2020 by DJ-1701
1TF0rward Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 I hope the free version is kept as we use this as our backup solution! 1
RLR Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 This is the email we received earlier. Dear Customer,Over the past 14 years, Veeam has dedicated itself to delivering the industry’s most robust Backup and data management solutions, focused on ensuring our customers’ success. Our commitment to this goal has helped us innovate, grow and dominate the modern highly-virtualized on-prem datacenter – what we call Veeam’s Act I. I am pleased to announce the next phase of Veeam’s evolution. Today, I’m excited to announce that Insight Partners has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Veeam to help capture the next phase of leadership and growth, while driving continued innovation. This marks a huge milestone in Veeam’s history and will help fuel our progression through Act II – the Hybrid Cloud – as we look to expand into new markets and continue our growth trajectory. The acquisition is expected to close by the end of Q1 2020. As a part of this transaction, I am also taking on the role of CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Veeam. I’m very excited to build on Veeam’s success that Ratmir Timashev and Andrei Baronov have created, and to continue to bring industry leading products to market to help you meet your business objectives. As we move forward, we will become a US company, with 100% US shareholders, but we will remain a truly global organization, dedicated to helping you drive your business objectives, managing and protecting data no matter where it resides - cloud, virtual, physical - and delivering the service you require. Our global roots and philosophy, and commitment to you, will not change. I’d like to reassure you that there will be no change in our day-to-day operations, and we continue to be 100% committed to your success. It’s business as usual, only now we will have a greater opportunity to ensure we continue to innovate and deliver the solutions and service you have come to expect from everyone at Veeam. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your business and for putting your trust in us to help protect your data. I look forward to continuing our partnership into the future. For more information, please read the press release and FAQ document. Yours faithfully,
jthompson Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 If pricing becomes a problem, Nakivo apparently does pretty much the same thing but at a lower price than Veeam. 1
DJ-1701 Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 If pricing becomes a problem, Nakivo apparently does pretty much the same thing but at a lower price than Veeam. Useful alternative, but no free version. I wonder how good Windows Backup is these days.
TwistedHelixis Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 we use windows backup on all our hosts and it has been rock solid for many many years. had to do a good few vm restores during that time and not had any issues. 1
