Fazza Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 I've been looking at these yesterday, I don't collect stamps but I think I'm going to have to get a set of these!
Arthur Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 The story behind Royal Mail's new video game stamp set Royal Mail's video game stamps are released this week – here's how the set was put together. The announcement recently that Royal Mail would be commemorating classic British video games drew a rapturous reception – but how do you celebrate 40 years of UK gaming in just eight stamps? And how are special sets of stamps like these designed and put together?
FragglePete Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 While applaud this - I feel there are some glaring omissions - Manic Miner? Jet Set Willy? Attack of the Mutant Camels? Beach Head? But, oh the hours I wasted on Elite, Sensible Soccer and Wipeout - sheer joy! Pete
Dos_Box Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 My framed set has just arrived and it's very nice indeed! 3
mikkydoos Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 (edited) While applaud this - I feel there are some glaring omissions - Manic Miner? Jet Set Willy? Attack of the Mutant Camels? Beach Head? But, oh the hours I wasted on Elite, Sensible Soccer and Wipeout - sheer joy! Pete My Beach Head (on an Amstrad CPC464) always crashed in the last moment before finishing the game As did Gianna Sisters on the Amiga But unlike Daley Thompson's Decathlon which broke ALL my many many joysticks and endless smashing bent the keyboard til it resembled a banana. Lovely stamp set though @Dos_Box I kinda want to play Feud on my Amstrad all over again Edited February 12, 2020 by mikkydoos

But, oh the hours I wasted on Elite, Sensible Soccer and Wipeout - sheer joy! Pete The rights to Manic Miner and JSW are currently mired in legal wrangles and my guess is they couldn't get the image rights to them. Beach Head was a US title and as this set is about UK produced games, wouldn't fit in. I agree about AoTMC though, it would have been good if Jeff Minter got a showing.
6Foot2 Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 We have ordered a set to go on a wall in the room our son vacated when he went to Falmouth to study for his degree in Immersive Computing (including AI, VR, and Game Design) They will be on the wall the next time he comes back for a break (not Easter)
