Hi Guys

One of the schools we support recently purchased the RM Unify Premium with AD Sync Installation for their school

One of their reasons was that they wanted staff to access network drives on their AD Server from home.

Has anyone used this before or is this even technically possible do to? The school got quoted around £500 and in the description says something like

INS Data-Mig-File Sys to SPO/GTD

I'm just wondering if this is just transferring data from their shares up to Office365 cloud

Anyone had experience with this?

I thought it was mainly for providing a Single Sign on between your network and other systems (such as 365 if you don't use ADConnect)

Not aware of it being a method to remote access your network though.

We have RM Unify which does SSO into our school news page, Email, Office 365 etc.

Anything updated/added into the MIS (SIMS) gets synced to the AD overnight.

We don't use Teams much.

I use OneDrive more and more myself.

We use SharePoint for student stuff and news stuff.

We have a RDS-based system where staff can then access the share drives via that.

Works quite well to be fair.

Thanks guys for your input

Thought this was the case

was just trying to figure out what in their quote was meant by

SPO/GTD

SPO - figured could be sharepoint online

GTD - Probaby something to do with google? No idea lol

I'd say that it's SharePoint Online and Google Drive, so your resources are uploaded to those platforms instead of providing connection in.

The only thing we're using Unify for is to synchronise user accounts with the User Based Web Filtering as it's also an RM product

Oh if it's just access to your documents remotely, and you have a local web server, you can always try Home Access Plus

We use rm unify for broadband, office365, we did have a contract with them for remote access for 5 PCs not users but cancelled contract as we now use windows remote. However rm provided this service for 5pound a machine.

I'm currently decommissioning a school which was with RM fully with unify. broadband is extorniate..moving them away and saving 6000 per year! seen less issues since going vanilla.

I would love to move away for cost saving but for ease at moment, only me 550 children. Over 300 devices and a novice in technician world. I would like to change provider for faster broadband and filtering but I know how hard it is to start with filtering again and ports opening.
