Hygiene in school - including keyboards

Found this - thought it might be a useful exercise

especially regarding the bugs on shared use keyboards, door handles etc etc

Posted it here 'cos I didn;t know where else it would be on topic and be seen!

 

I always included this stuff with my classes - but only used some newspaper articles about hygene of keyboards

 

Especially relevant in the light of flu - but also in terms of people washing their hands after going to the toilet

 

I did see an interesting version of this ages ago where a school tested all the door handles in the school. They discovered that older doors in the corridor had almost no bugs but the other doors had lots

Reason was that the older doors had brass handles - and brass contains copper which is poisonous

Our doors, tables, desks etc are cleaned every night by the cleaners.

 

Not sure about the keyboards and mice but I dont clean them.

None of our keyboards are made out of yummy, energy-rich materials like bread, so we're alright.

We found toothmarks in the soap in the infant toilets... more than once.

 

We installed soap dispensers soon after

Usually plenty of bread (crumbs) inside the keyboard, though - along with various other 'things which might once have been edible'.

The students used to bite 1/2 the rubber coating off the mouse balls, then put them back in the mouse here.
