The way the blog read, I think it's going to be more of a hybrid system, where basically you'll get hosted interfaces to your existing SIMS database on site.

Which is exactly what they used to have on offer with SIMS Webparts 13 years ago, as far as I can see.

 

Yep. Although currently the hosted stuff is less capable than the old webparts.
