Are the Samsung Tab A's any good?

I need to purchase some more Android tablets for a primary school.

 

We normally get a slightly older Samsung Galaxy Tab S ?? Yes they are pricey but they do have a fantastic touch screen, and speedy hardware, but even the Tab S 3 is £350 and that came out almost 3 years ago, so I started looking at alternatives.

 

We have tried cheaper tablets in the past and they never got used as the touch screen was not great, so it's been worth paying extra for something that will actually get used.

 

I noticed the Samsung Tab A (2019) is only £120 direct from Samsung, so what is the catch, anyone used one?

 

If the Tab A is simply not as good as the much older Tab S3 I will just get the S3 but wondered if anyone had used the Tab A and could offer some feedback.

Just noticed there is also a Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e that is new and around £350, so will also look into this

We've actually bought a couple of Tab A's for our staff as we're trying to wean them off iPad's.. Can't say I see any complaints.

 

If you're not heavily using G Suite for Education though, they're probably going to be a bit less useful than they could be. But still definitely a viable alternative to iPads.

We got 10 10.5 versions for our Early Years to use with Tapestry. They are happy as they have shiny, call them their iPads, have good cameras and are responsive. We are happy because they aren't iPads, haven't wrecked our budget and we can manage them from InTune. Everyone is happy, so I am happy.

I got an amazon tab 10 in the sale for £95

Removed basically all the Amazon stuff and am left with a stock android app for a decent price.

Same here, I have one for personal use, and have recommended them to a teacher for his use. Fast, good capacity, great battery life.

Just getting some quotes in for the TAB A (2019) and the TAB S5e. Will recommend to the school that we should test out a TAB A first.

At that price (see currys link above) it's worth getting a couple in regardless, especially as they're 32GB models with free case and 64gb SD card.

I'm happy with mine; it does help that AFTER I'd agreed a new contract with BT, the salesman said BTW, as you signed up in August, you get a free Tab A [emoji2]
