Hi all

This has been an ongoing issue with Google Calendar, Office staff place events on the calendar and then they disappear. We are using Macs with OSX 10.13 and the calendar app for the google calendar syncing. Each user is using the same user account to edit the calendar. I regularly receive emails and phone calls complaining that the calendar is wrong and we should change to another system. Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue?

Delegate the calendar to each user and have them each manage the calendar in the browser from own individual accounts. It sounds like the edits are getting done/undone as a result of multiple syncs happening concurrently using the same account. The Mac calendar app is perhaps not up to the task.

Best solution would be to setup individual accounts for each member of staff, this way you will be able to have an audit trail of what exactly is going on from the user side.

From there I would recommend ditching the calendar app, and moving to the web based version. Web Based version is live and updates in real time, so once the event is added you can be certain that this is the case for all users with access.

We have one calendar setup for the school calendar staff, they do not have access to the account it is setup on, they just receive an invite to add to their list of calendars and are given the relevent permissions in the account on whether they can just view or edit.

No other type of calendar is supported and they should use their own account calendar in GAFE and subsequently add the School calendar on invite.

Why in heavens name are you using the same user account...?

 

Each individual requires a Gmail account you then use Goggle's Share/Sync function to allow users to see each others account, you can choose whether a user can edit, change or create appt in Calendar.

Hi

It had acquire to me that everyone using the same account was an accident just waiting to happen. I have been working on creating accounts and sharing with them in the background, as a possible solution the the issue. but I was wondering if there was another. the heads calendar is shared as a read only and I think that has been working OK for some time now, so account all round it is. The accountability to who deleted a calendar event or who added a calendar event is something I have brought up with managers.
