Google Chrome MSI

Hello,

 

I'm trying to find a current MSI file for chrome so that I can create a package and push it out over CC4. There's got to be an easier way surely? the last time chrome was pushed out through MSI was version 75.0.3770.100.0 - is there a way of creating a package that auto-updates or is that wishful thinking? Worst case scenario where can I find an MSI file now for Chrome as it seems to push to an application file or to Chrome enterprise, which I am also curious as to how that would work with cc4?

 

Any help would be appreciated greatly as I fear I am going insane lol.

I believe the only official MSI for Chrome is for the enterprise version. Is there a reason you don't want to use the enterprise version for what is effectively an enterprise environment?

The MSI installers can be downloaded from here - https://cloud.google.com/chrome-enterprise/browser/download/. You download a zip, installers ADMX etc are all in there.

 

Personally I put MSTs on my MSIs to prevent the automatic update feature, especially when it's so easy to roll out new versions. But, each to their own.

The tech before me just showed me how to push out the normal MSI packages through CC4 I am intrigued by the idea of the enterprise version but I'm not certain of where to start with it.

There's little or no difference in user experience on the enterprise version as far as I'm aware (happy to be corrected); it just means that you can control it properly with group policy.

 

You're an enterprise, go ahead and use the enterprise version

I'd highly recommend the enterprise version as you can manage block access to settings, manage extensions, block incognito mode, block signing in, force safe search and so much more using the supplied GPOs. I don't think those policies will apply against the non-enterprise version of Chrome.
