tech-man Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Hello, We are in the process of setting up Options Online for students to make choices etc. We have set up a plan, made it active and assigned a student. Invited the student & set their permission to 'student' on Options Online. When the student logs in with invite code etc. They receive a blank screen with nothing on it. I feel we are missing something?!
ass17 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 We are having this same issue, I’m on the phone to SIMS now. See what they come up with....
coolhands Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 I had to reinvite the whole year group to enable them to register. Could try that. For some reason the original 'invite' wasn't working.
ass17 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Apparently you also need to have enabled the “Access Data Source Cross Domains” in IE security settings.
CaNNoN_1981 Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Did anyone manage to find a solution for this? I have changed the setting in IE security settings for 'Access Data Source Cross domain' to enabled but still getting the grey blank screen.
CHU Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 We're having this issue, none of the students have submitted option choices, their using a variety of devices at home, laptops, mobiles etc. So I can't see it being an IE setting?
Andy2789 Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 We had this issue, if they don't click the invite first and confirm they can login and get a blank page. So we find the invite had expired, or in most cases parents/students just click the link and sign in and not accept the invite email link first. Once they have pressed this we found that the problem goes away.
CHU Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Thanks Andy, I think there’s that issue and also we hadn’t applied permissions in the Sims Admin panel for Options either. You’d think a no permission message wouldn’t be too hard to implement! Thanks Craig
lmgtfy Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 Its been like this for years. Instead of a simple message like "check you have accepted your initiation" or "no pathway set contact your Sims admin" they just present a blank screen which is useful for no one. Thanks Capita!
lmrogers Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Morning Has anyone found reason as to why the initial Invite email would not work? We have the issue where the students are clicking on Accept Invitation and it will say that the code has already been used? All we can do is just reinvite the students. I would love to hear how people have got this setup and not had issues. Its a simple process so I can't understand why it causes so many issues.
jrma91 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 One of the issues that we have found has been user error, and it's usually one of 2 problems!! 1 They will click on the link, don't complete the registration fully (for whatever reason) and then when they go back to the link to try again it says that it has already been used. 2 They use the link from the email to get into SIMS Options after they have already registered. So we tell parents and students not to click on the link unless they are going to complete registration there and then as it is a one time access link. Another issue that we found, and this may just be our users is that they think that when they have registered is that they when they log into the system again that they have to use the SIMS Login screen rather than using whatever one they registered with! This can be confusing for our students as they have to select Google and use their school email address (our email is run through Google so all students have Google logins.) So make sure that they are clicking on the same account type that they registered with.
alexware Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Hello,I have the same problem. Im in Year 9 and I need to choose my subjects for Year 10. When I logged in, I chosen the Microsoft. I completed all the things and when I clicked on SIMS Options, I got a blank page. Can someone helps me? Thanks.
