Anyone used both a Smart interactive TV and the equivalent MX version?

Smart now seem to offer two similar versions of their interactive TVs, with the MX version being slightly cheaper, but not by much.

 

Has anyone used both types of their TVs?

 

I am just wondering if it's worth paying slightly more for the non MX version.

Is it the 6000 series you are referring to?

 

If so, the main difference between the two interactive flat panels is the type of technology they use for the touch. The 6000 series uses something called DVIT (Digital Vision Touch) This technology allows the pen ID. Essentially you can pick up the black pen and it knows its black, pick up the red pen and it knows its red (Without selecting anything within SMART notebook) Teachers will love this feature if they've had past experience with interactive whiteboards… The technology of the MX users is infrared, perfectly fine for most classroom environments, people will argue it's an old technology now.. With this said, the MX does have some really good positives.

3. 10 points of touch
   
4. Does come with VGA for the legacy devices..

the 6000's are a nightmare. the tracking tech for the pens is so tempremental, any dust in the trays? not working or changing pen colours on the fly.

We got one MX and the small price difference didn't seem like enough so we went back to the 6000 series. Like the front firing speakers, d not like temperamental touch issues or the weak magnets that often did not hold the pens.

There are two versions of the MX series - the MX265 and the MX165... the 265 has a slightly better built in android machine, but the 165 works just fine.

 

165's are about £1350

265's are about £1750

 

Both have airplay and decent speakers built in. Huge improvement on the 4000/6000 series (wouldn't touch one of them again).

How does the 6000 know which pen is which? We have some 800s with cameras, although they can detect 2 pens at once, can't do 2 colours
