Cunninghams - Switch from ID Manager to IDStore

Just in-case some of you may not be aware, Cunninghams are no longer using ID Manager as the fingerprint management software. They've developed their own in-house software, IDStore and will be switching all customers to this. We've been appraoched by BioStore to replace Cunninghams as the complete cashless catering service and it is extremely compelling. I've also been made aware of the following downsides to Cunninghams IDStore software:

  • It cannot import existing fingerprints from ID Manager - all users have to be manually enrolled again
  • Only one fingerprint per user - no capacity for backup fingerprints
  • Office/catering/IT staff would need training on this new software

  • Thanks 2

It's nearly 2020!

Is this symbolic of Cunningham's whole attitude towards things in this age? Crap software?

I'm not impressed with them much in the jobs I've had when I've had to get involved with their team or company. Shoddy work, unhelpful engineers, I wouldn't recommend them but here that's down to the catering manager to manage it, not IT.

We moved from Cunninghams to Biostore a while ago. No regrets.

Interesting - pros/cons etc?

How about the service, response etc from Biostore by comparison?

The first one is bending the truth - Whist it can not directly import from ID Manager (Because in theory if done correctly, no biometric database should be transferable between different vender software) it's designed to run in the background at the same time as Biostore for a few months before switchover. If a student uses a reader with a valid print from biostore it takes a capture at the same time and applies it to ID Manager. This is done totally transparent in the background & was completely painless for us.

The second one we found was a benefit, it made enrolling students much, much quicker.

Training isn't really that difficult either.

Support is 1st class! I ring and if not instantly i get a fix, generally an issue caused by us.

In September, there is a big phone queue but we are not waiting hours on end for a fix once you have actually logged a case. The longest it has taken for them to fix something for me has been 2 days and that was because they were waiting on ParentPay.

Support is good. The product is good, so much easier to do things than with Cunninghams Impact software. We didn't transition to their newer software. We have also bought into the Biostore registration system and we use it with 6th form.

Am I missing something? We've had Cunninghams in place using IDStore for the last couple of years yet this makes it sound like it's a new thing?

Agreed though, Cunningham's support and general service is dire.

Does anyone use Cunninghams IDStore for systems other than Cunninghams Catering? For example, printing/photocopying or password reset system etc? Has anyone successfully migrated away from IDStore after they have started using it?

This change actually happened already 2 years ago. They sent out a massive bulk email to all customers about it and it was mentioned on these forums. The split seemed acromonous from Biostore because they were releasing their own cashless system.

We moved a while ago and had to re-register all students :(
