Sourcing roll down dry wipe board?

We are in need of sourcing a dry erase roll down blind or something similar that can cover an IWB. I had seen them many moons again in a different school but cant find them anywhere!....................Also before anyone mentions it I know this is completely counter-intuitive and stupid to cover an IWB but this is not my battle to fight!.

 

Any help sourcing appreciated.

counter intuitive and probably a silly idea, but one of those roll down maps but put up backwards.

 

or just laminate pieces of A3 paper and get them to use them - but warn them that they can't blu-tack it to the board, or press down on it too hard, as it will ruin the sensitivity of the board

The best compromise I've seen to date was with a normal whiteboard as the screen, an Epson short-throw projector that projected onto said board and a laser unit of some kind that interacted with the 3x to give interactive functionality.

 

 

This post seems ironic as this week one classroom has had the roller whiteboard and interactive smartboard removed, in favour of an old interactive SMART flat panel.

Won't it need to be something rigid? I would expect a roll down blind or similar to just wave around and bash against the iwb.

 

Could you mount tracks to the wall and have a board that slides out of the way?

 

Or put the iwb on a stand with wheels and have a standard whiteboard mounted on the back?

If I am honest I cant see the arrangement lasting long so want to spend as little money/time as possible so building something might not be the best option. Also, I don't think a portable whiteboard would fly. Anyone know of anywhere I can purchase one of the pull down things?

Get them a flip chart and easel on wheels, problem solved.

Then arrange to be "testing" the built-in whiteboard facility of whatever IWB you have just before the requester is due in the class. Better still if you can have a teacher using it in their class and steer the technophobe in.

 

Couple of my schools have recently installed a bunch of Promethean panels, and the teachers are loving the native white/chalk board features.

Not rolling as such - perhaps suggest a columnboard setup? Price will be so ridiculously high that it should stop the silly requests like these....

For those that understand gratuitous technology isn't always what the teacher needs or wants...

 

I made a "sash window" arrangement of whiteboards in front of the sh*** interactive board which was used by one teacher. Very much like the Column Board above.
