TeacherDave Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Hi all I have a two week cycle set up but Nova thinks that Mon:A3 and Mon:B5 are on the same day and therefore won't schedule lessons on these slots because of the one per day rule. I don't want to switch it off becasue of autoschedule but I know that it is making my life difficult. I've aattched an image to demonstrate. In this instance I can't drop the lesson En with CNH into the blank because it clashes with En with NSC, even though they are actually on different days. This is just one example but I'm sure there are lots of times autoschedule has worked around this problem. I am finding it really hard to schedule this timetable but I have a contact ration of 0.67 so it should be really easy!!!! What can I do? Have I set my cycle up wrong? Would it make a difference if the days were labelled as AMon:3 and BMon:5? If yes then how do I change that with some of my timetable built already? Please help? Dave
bobsmith Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 can you post a screenshot of your cycle? I know ours is Mon1:P1 and Mon2:P2 so maybe yours is getting confused because they both look like the same monday?
Linfit Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Seeing the cycle would help - from that screenshot it looks like the periods have been named but it isn't actually a two-week timetable: it it was the period names would be Mon1,Mon2 etc. It looks like you have a one week timetable with double the number of periods per lesson. Are you intending to use the "Create week two" process to generate the second week ?
TeacherDave Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 Hi both Sorry for the late reply, I had to go to a meeting. I have attached a copy of the cycle for you to see. I'm planning to run interleave to split the weeks. Dave
Cache Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 As it's the same subject but different member of staff, you could set the one per day rule to cluster by staff for that block and it should do it.
TeacherDave Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 Thanks Cache, I can override that example but what about the general rule? Is my model wrong?
Cache Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 I don't know the answer to that sorry, I've been out of the loop in doing a two week timetable since it was introduced as someone else took it on. I don't think your model is wrong as you are going to interleave it, I think it's a limitation of the interleave process which leaves you two options. 1 - suspend the one per day rule in some form and do it that way. 2 - make a note of the additional things that you need to schedule, do the majority, interleave it and then do the additional scheduling. I might be wrong, but it's what I take from having a quick glance at the Nova T6 manual, approximately page 475 (limitations of interleave).
Linfit Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 It looks like this might be an issue with the sessions and block shape ? Is it that you have all double periods in the block shape from the screenshot but you are trying to schedule singles ?
MkII Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 When we had this set up we had the cycle the other way around. ie: mon tue wed thu fri mon1 tue1 wed1 thu1 fri1
a_masters Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 This is what I get if I create a two week timetable. Did you go to Cycle -> Create Week Two to create it?
