We have a number of Hitachi's here and I'm not buying any more. First lot were great but last batch had loads of problems and Hitachi were a nightmare to deal with. Now looking at Sharp and SMART. We avoid any with Android as lets face it, they aren't going to support it after the first year, so why have it being a security risk. SMART seem to have some very good deals at the moment for one of the 'Big Players' I think they've found a lot of people opting for the less well known brands due to price. Well done on SMART for matching them! Shame Promethean can't think like this.

What sort of prices are you seeing for SMART kit @robyholmes ? Every time I've gone to look Promethean have smashed them on price! Still not cheap compared to BenQ, Clevertouch etc but still...

Around the £1500 mark for a 65".

Every one of our Hitachi projectors failed with one issue or another within 3 years so I will not buy anything Hitachi ever again.

Yup, have a primary school full of these pieces of ****. Never ever again! (CP-AW2505 model).

If you want cheap, you can get Vestel ones for £1200 (Vestel are the same company that makes Sharp white goods in the EU, Luxor, and Toshiba TVs in Europe, oh and some Hitachi stuff in Europe is actually Vestel).

We generally go for SMART MX265's though. Last ones we got were £1850 for the 65".

Indeed, which is why you never ever buy the cheap cack TV's from Asda/Tesco etc during black friday; all made by Vestel, and made to fail. Blaupunkt, Wharfdale, Sharp, Polaroid etc - all names slapped on to give you a false sense of security when buying tat :((

That probably was actually made by Hitachi back then rather than a random Turkish sweatshop! :D Although back then flat screen TV's were considerably bulkier and allowed for bigger & often better components. Any corner cut these days to fit them into smaller frames :(

Hi there, did this price include installation (and de-installation of existing kit), or is that just for the screen (and hopefully includes the SMART Notebook licence?!).

Just for the screen (inc wall mount bracket as they come with one), and a 1 year license.

We've been putting in the Sharp PN65SC1 fully installed with 5 year warranty for around £1650 ex VAT from Sharp directly. If you only want a 3 year warranty you can knock ~£100 off. Working well for us; included software is free and capable enough, and image quality is good. FIrst ones went in around 6 months ago and still very happy.
