Hi,

I have been asked to get 50m VGA cables to the prjectors in our new build.

Can anyone recommend a supplier, never got ones these long before and I don't fancy paying £120 for the Lindy gold plated ones.

Know I will need a amplifier but I have been told they need 50m ones as the route is all over the place.

I think for 50 metres that's a very good price. I didn't know you could get them that long! The longest I have purchased is 10 metres from Lindy and it still works to this day.

Alternatively you may want to look at VGA over Ethernet which I know is possible, but you may find the price is similar, if not more expensive!

We have a couple of vga cables that probably run approx 25m and even with an amplifier it still has an effect on the picture a bit. If I was doing it again I would definitely take a look at using CAT5e which can run upto approx 140m for video.

Or spend a lot more on vga amplifiers to get the best possible picture quality etc...

I misheard the distance, its 30m and I've ordered some today for £35each.

We need to use splitters so the display and projector are on at the same time so I'll make sure they have a amplifiers in them.

You might be better off using a duel output video card in clone mode (if you can) rather than a splitter. I find the VGA splitter boxes lower the picture quality substantially.

I have had some 50m ones before that cost about £68 and they were fine without a booster but they were SVGA leads and very heavy duty and heavy.
