Ok. I give up!

How on earth does one disable calling for students in Teams? As it stands, a student can click 'Meet Now' and start their own audio or video chat, and I don't want them to be able to. Nothing I'm doing with policies in the Teams Admin Centre seems to be making any difference - I'm guessing these only apply to scheduled meetings...

Has anyone done it?

i think you need to create a meeting policy and config the "private Meeting" setting to disallow. then apply that to your students. PS is something like Grant-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy

in fact this is what i was thinking of:-

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/skype/new-csteamsmeetingpolicy?view=skype-ps

see here
