thimon Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Hi all. One of our VM's is running Server 2012 R2 Standard, I'm trying to upgrade it to Server 2016 via the ISO however I cannot choose the option to "Keep personal files and app", I would need to select "Nothing", which isn't ideal. The two ISO's that I've been provided are SW_DVD9_Win_Server_STD_CORE_2016_64Bit_English_-4_DC_STD_MLF_X21-70526.ISO and SW_DVD9_Win_Svr_STD_Core_and_DataCtr_Core_2016_64Bit_English_-3_MLF_X21-30350.ISO I was wondering if anyone else had come across this? Any help would be appreciated! Cheers 1
DalekSec Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Could it be that the new ISOs are both Core and your current install is standard?
thimon Posted May 7, 2019 Author Posted May 7, 2019 That's what I initially thought. However the installer gives you the options of either Core or Standard, when selecting Standard the option to "Keep personal files and apps" is still greyed out.
TwistedHelixis Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 I had this problem when upgrading from windows 8.1 to 10. I cant for the life of me remember what I needed to do to fix the issue, but I will hunt through my docs
TwistedHelixis Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Sorry cant find the info:0( I would do a search for your issue but as migrating to windows 10, it will probably list a load more info. 1
