Hey guys,

 

Back again with some more wonderful questions to ask you wonderful people about:

 

Currently the school I'm working with (Secondary Education) are using a piece of software called DataDisc and DataDisc Timing. The software is a science program, and allows for real-time data logging and data manipulation in Education (Datadisc family)

 

This software is really, really old. So old that there isn't a silent installation for it anywhere. This makes it extremely difficult to automate and, as we use SCCM, renders that completely useless in the imaging process with our laptop cycles.

 

To try and get rid of the software and destroy the beast once and for all, I'm looking for some more contemporary software that has the same level of functionality as DataDisc and DataDisc Timing, that allows for silent installation. What are you guys using in your schools? Any recommendations?

 

Help me destroy the ancient beast, please!

We use LogIt, which has an MSI installer or will run from a network share (this is how we use it). Although it looks like it's been superseded by SensorLab.

We use LogIt, but that's for use with specific logging hardware - you're probably going to want software that works with your existing hardware. What I've done with LogIt, which might work in a similar fashion with DataDisc, is to run the software on dedicated kisok devices (NUCs or a small laptop if you need portability) and have all results synced up to Google Drive. The kiosks can be logged in to via the browser using VNC with a NoVNC gateway, so all a pupil has to do is open a web browser on any device and browse to the particulatr address for the logging device they are using.

sciencescope are still around the new software is called logbook. I didn't use it as it required JAVA and that is a no. I have an old disconnected 32bit win7 laptop for them to use with datadisc PT.

We have all of the hardware associated with them, so no doubt we're gonna end up going with them...

Is that TTS Datadisc, that comes with the associated USB TTS Logboxs?

 

I've got an MSI somewhere for that which worked on Windows 7....
