synaesthesia Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 Same reason they keep Chewie going. It would be like killing off a puppy. Shhhhhh, John Wick is listening... 1
6Foot2 Posted May 29, 2019 Author Posted May 29, 2019 NOTE: SPOILER: (Not included here) I have just read about a spoiler which claims to give away a major plot-line of the film. As the release date is 19th December 2019 it will be difficult avoiding this spoiler (and the others that will follow...)
admars Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Fingers crossed they've deliberately slipped out several fake snippets of info, but thanks for the heads up, 7 months is a long time to be off the internet otherwise
FishCustard Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Apparently said theory has been shot down by Lucasfilm (and it doesn't sound like an "oh crap they're on to us" denial, more a "wat? that doesn't make sense" denial), so hopefully it's meaningless.

Was that twist reveal that Rey is actually 2 Ewoks in a coat? 1
Rob_D Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Cool. I don't quite understand the why anyone would ever use the double bladed lightsaber in the folded configuration (both blades pointed the same way), but it looks damn cool!
FishCustard Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Not sure why you'd want the dual-bladed thing anyway - more likely to slice your own arm off than be any use! Sure you can spin it to deflect blaster fire, but then... you can do that with a regular one too, surely?
ICTDirect_Dave Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Cool. I don't quite understand the why anyone would ever use the double bladed lightsaber in the folded configuration (both blades pointed the same way), but it looks damn cool! It would be superb for disarming lightsaber-wielding opponents! Not sure why you'd want the dual-bladed thing anyway - more likely to slice your own arm off than be any use! Sure you can spin it to deflect blaster fire, but then... you can do that with a regular one too, surely? Same reason people do well using a quarterstaff against swords. Great for a flurry of blows, fantastic against multiple opponents, and very very quick!
FishCustard Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 I completely agree about disarming opponents, hadn't thought of that! Not so sure about the quarterstaff comparison - there's minimal risk to the wielder with a quarterstaff (e.g. if you accidentally whack yourself with it the worst you'll have is a bruise, with a lightsaber you could chop bits off!). I agree that they'd probably be good against multiple opponents however. Then again I'm not really well versed in martial arts - I think in the Star Wars universe I'd be building the weapons (perhaps big planet destroying things!) rather than using them!
ICTDirect_Dave Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Not so sure about the quarterstaff comparison - there's minimal risk to the wielder with a quarterstaff (e.g. if you accidentally whack yourself with it the worst you'll have is a bruise, with a lightsaber you could chop bits off!) The caveat with all kinds of lightsaber is that you generally have to be a force user to be any good with one. The premonition innate in force users coupled with a lightsaber crystal being linked to the force is what generally stops Jedi/Sith from chopping themselves up during combat
FishCustard Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Mmmm I do recall something about that coming up in the KOTOR games (something along the lines of someone asking "why doesn't everyone use them") - that does make a lot of sense. 2

chazzy2501 Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 Ahh man I'm glad people still enjoy startwars, Admiral "Gender Studies" killed it for me in TLJ. And Rose Tico stopped Finn's hero arc leaving me baffled. Plus the whole ruining Luke Skywalker...oh and Yoda lightning wtf? I'll rent it on Amazon maybe next year.
