Office 365 ProPlus for Students and Office 365 ProPlus for faculty Or do these need to be purchased in addition to the OVS licence.

Boredguy Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 Depending on your domain name, you might already have the Office 365 A1 Plus for Faculty/Student available. Some people have found if they are not using one of the established .sch.uk or .ac domains that they have to contact Office365 support to get their establishment flagged/registered as educational, at which time these licences should then become available (along with the Self Signup option) The A1 Plus for Fac/Stu would enable you to use the Office 365 Click to Run Device or User based deployment method on site, but you must have the OVS agreement to do this anyway. The normal Pro Plus one should be available via your OVS reseller as it's gets linked to your tenancy via the MS Volume Licence Centre

Koldov Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 (edited) Went through this a while ago and found it a complete nightmare, so feel your pain... Office 365 ProPlus for faculty (& students) = 'free' with an OVS agreement which includes Office Pro Plus. This must (in fact can only) be added by whoever deals with your licensing (your reseller) onto your VLSC, then you have to go in and activate it. Unfortunately our reseller was very poor, very difficult to get hold of and very unhelpful, stating that unless it was done on 'renewal' it would incur a cost (something ridiculous like £0.01p - but needed to have a value attached to show up in their system). Like you, we do not have any 'Office A1 Plus' licenses showing in our O365 admin portal (we have a .sch.uk domain registered etc) - they have not appeared there automatically, so I presume they would have to be requested from M$ (not liking my chances though given your experience)... Boredguy Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 The ProPlus is via your OVS reseller A1 Plus for Faculty/Students was automatic if you setup self signup (powershell command Set-MsolCompanySettings -AllowEmailVerifiedUsers $true) when it first came out, but seems these days you have to talk to 365 Support (sometimes repeatedly to get a correct person)
sparkeh Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 I had to get the support call escalated a few times to get the A1 Plus licences added. The drones on first line have no clue about it. When you land with someone who does it is resolved pretty quickly though. Unfortunately it took months to get to the right person.

On what basis are the licenses granted? Say we have 300 pupils and 30 FTE staff, I could just ask for 300 O365 A1 Plus Student Licenses and 30 faculty?

Their own documentation states that schools with an OVS-ES for Office are entitled to receive Office 365 A1 Plus licences From: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/office-365-education-self-sign-up-technical-faq-7fb1b2f9-94c2-4cbb-b01e-a6eca34261d6?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US MS Technet article on this that states the same thing (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt844095.aspx) To receive the licences you need to be on the Academic Verification list (<- this is bit that we really struggled with as multiple people told us that we were on it but it took a resubmission to sort it) When they appear they are unlimited 1
