Hi all,

We currently 17 Hikvision cameras using the supplied IVMS software which is starting to annoy me. What does everyone else use for their displaying and recording?

I would like something that has a web view so that the head can view certain camera's as well if required and view recordings?

Cheers

What is annoying you about it? We use it and have found it to be pretty intuitive. We also have a Ubiquiti system for an external build in the college but have found it to not be half as feature rich and possibly a little harder to use. Hikvision do seem to be the most popular (you see them everywhere)!

We used to use this software before our site changed its CCTV supplier and maintenance team.....

I found it very good as opposed to the one we have now which is very clunky....

Give it a try for nothing its free...

The painful thing is getting the recordings as I am the only one to use the system, I get a lot of calls for recordings and don't really want too many people to have access. Rather than installing the client on each machine for the head, and the assistant head it would be brilliant if there was a web view. Has anyone got the media streaming working?

As @FishCustard mentioned the fact the web client only works on internet explorer is also painful.

@bossman is this the free version or was there another I missed. The streaming server looks exactly what I am looking for.

The only alternative would be some thing like Synology as that is natively web based. But that it is a license per camera and the Synology hardware and changing how you record currently. It is lovely to use though.

Its changed since we used it last but that does look like it....

You might have to pay a premium for the streaming server but the client side should be free....

Give them a call and see what they have to offer for you....you might get educational discount...who knows...all clever stuff

We've been using Blue Iris for the past 6 years and can't fault it for the price (about £50). Can monitor up to 64 cameras. Can setup groups of cameras. Can delegate access to specific cameras and/or groups. Can record when motion detected.

Have you tried the Hikvision mobile app/ would your SMT use that? I find it tons better than the desktop version. Really fast, easy to use, and I think you can restrict users.

Maybe setup bluestacks on a desktop and try it?

Some Szinocam IP cameras, the problem we had was the software would constantly crash and sometimes not resume recording. There would be well over 100 icons of iSpy in the system tray each morning. Milestone just seems like a much more polished product.
