Exchange 2003 and Pocket PC guides?

I seem to be struggling to get my Pocket PC to sync with Exchange. I am getting various errors including one I know are wrong like cannot resolve the server name even though I can remote Desktop and get OWA up in explorer on the device.

I am looking to test out the new features as SMT are interested in the push technology stuff (last time I open my mouth about such things ) . Im looking at a general guide and how to get certificates on the devices as well (currently disabled) .

Have you got rpc over http or webmail using forms authentication running? if so, forget trying to get this to work without having a front end back end solution. drop me a pm if u want to give me a call as i have been through this recently (ie last week) and at my last place it was trialled too.

Thanks I may do that Im stuck on http_500 error at the moment just working through some articles on that.

We arent using forms based authentication. We are using SSL though on the OWA.

Its definately SSL related I have turned it off to test and I now have a PPC full of email. Im going to try method 3 on the article I listed above.

Hmm is it just me or do you need Windows Mobile 5.0 to do all the push technology stuff?

The SSL issue was specifically the SSL settings on the Exchange virtual folder in IIS. Going to try this fix for it now ...

Just a thought. Do you have your PKI setup correctly?

I have disabled the need for the certificate on the device for now so that shouldnt be an issue.

 

Just completed that guide and it dint work Having two exchange servers just to sync the mobile devices is taking the *^%% a little. Anyone got any other suggestions?

disable "require ssl" on the exchange folder, problem is you then have to stop people accessing webmail without ssl somehow...

I know I can do that but eventually our OWA will be accessible from the internet so thats not a route I can go down. If they are going to really push for this I may look into a front end server on some mediocre hardware. Would probably better as well for security Im guessing.

How are you connecting your PPC to the network to connect to the exchange server via wireless or usb connection to a host pc?

Both Plexer. We want wireless more than anything though. I can get it to work disabling SSL but as I ahve said we need it in the near future.

From what I have read activesync only works on port 80 and doesnt want to know about 443.

 

 

This occurs because ActiveSync and OMA virtual directories make an explicit DAV logon to the Exchange virtual directory. The Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync and Outlook Mobile Access virtual directories cannot access the contents of the user's mailbox if the Exchange virtual directory is configured to require SSL. The Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync and Outlook Mobile Access virtual directories only try to connect with the Exchange virtual directory over TCP port 80 (HTTP), not over TCP Port 443 (HTTPS).
