One of our Smart E70 boards which cost £4K+ two or three years ago, months out of warranty, has given up the ghost. I've been advised that the only official route to getting it repaired is to have it shipped out to the Netherlands with an estimated bill of £1000. Not happy.

I just looked on a site listing that screen and it states 5 year warranty.

SMART E70 | Luxis Media

Are you absolutely sure that didn't come with a 5 year warranty? I'd be very surprised/grumpy if it didn't.

Either way, I personally have fallen out of love with SMART this and that, very happy with the BenQ screens I've purchased so far.

You can get the Mainstream boards (RM), or the one with premium features (RP).

Good morning @BJG

I’m pretty confident that it should be a five year warranty with the E70! In the days of Steljes, these guys were automatically registering the warranty from 3 to 5 years. So you should be covered. I’m happy to help if you can send me the serial number on PM?

Weirdly enough, I’ve had something like this with @hallb15 we got it sorted ...

Thanks for replies. The original invoice was dated August 2015. Entering the serial into Smart's warranty checker reports that it expired 16/2/2018.

We were advised that it was probably a board failure, and that: "...as it is out of warranty and the main board it is very expensive to repair it has to be couriered in packaging to the Netherlands for an assessment (there is no guarantee of a fix) but they will assess it and then advise the additional costs / parts to get it fixed and then returned. From experience we are looking at near the £1000 mark...unfortunately Smart do not let any of their partners replace parts it all has to be done at the Smart repair centre."

I can confirm, we had one which wouldn't respond to touch. SMART support said it was out of warranty, but Ross contacted them and got the 5 year warranty 'fixed' and we had the whole unit replaced about a week later. They sent two techs out to test, confirm the fault then de-install it and re-install it to the wall. I'm glad they did because those things are HEAVY!

Thanks again @VeryPC_Ross for sorting the warranty issue out. :)

Morning @BJG Good news, I’ve managed to get the warranty extended on this one. It wasn’t easy as we didn’t supply you the hardware, but I got there in the end after a few phone calls and a few nicely worded emails. Result! :whoo:

I’ll PM you with the finer details..

Ta,

Ross
