sahilkhan Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 Hi all how does your staff remote in to school network if you are on LGFL i know about RAV3 Cisco anyconnect client and then RDP, is anyone using anything other then RAV3. cheers
fiza Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 For staff we use MS RDS locked down so no downloads/uploads or printing permitted at home. Its a sandboxed environment as they can work as if they are in School and print to the school follow me printer for collection next working day. I personally still use anyconnect to remote into servers etc.
FishCustard Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 We use Microsoft's Always-On VPN for school laptops which works brilliantly (there's a bug in W10 v1709 with device-only tunnels, but user tunnels work well) and is far far easier for the users than RAv3. For remote access on personal devices we deploy web-based RDP using Microsoft RDWeb. Staff can get a school desktop environment in their browser. I still use RAv3 for admin stuff, but I don't care that it's a bit weird!
ewanc1234 Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 We use GlobalProtect which is made by Palo Alto networks, They use the VPN to connect to any internal web apps such as purchasing systems and other internal apps (they can not be accessed without it on) its as simple for the user to enter their AD Credentials (as the portal is put in during installation) and they are connected. In terms of remote desktop, we don't provide a solution for it and just install the software on the laptops them selfs.
mukz Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 We used RDS but then stopped giving access as we are moving to OneDrive and Teams. All files are stored there.
sahilkhan Posted October 23, 2018 Author Posted October 23, 2018 Seems like everyone is using RDS for staff remote access, i will have to look into this , as most staff want access to 4Matrix server. Cheers for everyone replies
xicor Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 we use SharePoint online through office 365 which is free for schools and don't need to be part pf LGFL - it works nicely, all our documents resources are available to all staff to access and edit via the browser word, excel, powerpoint and so much more, it costs us nothing ! and with advanced auditing and security permissions it even replaced our HR systems, we are now exploring Microsoft Dynamics too which integrates nicely Seems like everyone is using RDS for staff remote access, i will have to look into this , as most staff want access to 4Matrix server. Cheers for everyone replies
