[sims] Script to add student email addresses in to SIMS.net

Gave up waiting for Capita, so edited all 220 accounts manually ( between three of us it took 30 minutes!)

I'm trying to import email addresses like this. Does anyone know where the DBDIAGNOSE_EMAIL_PHONE_IMPORT_REPORT.SQL is supposed to be? Capita are telling me that it is definately inside the 23212 patch file they sent me, but as far as I'm concerned its not. I sent them a screenshot of the extracted contents and they said that the SQL script is part of the actual patch file '3.62.669 to 3.63.999 23212 Patch.SQL', like I'm supposed to copy and paste a section of the patch SQL file out to a separate file, but I don't think that's right...

It's inside the 3.62.669 to 3.63.999 23212 Patch.ZIP file.

 

But not sure you need to know that.

But the process did not work, I'm still trying to arrange a remote session with SIMS to look in to why - apparently I was n't the only Gloucestershire school last summer to have this fail on them!

This is all I see when I extract the patch. I do get an error when I extract the zip file using 7zip of 'Headers error', but I think I've seen that in the past extracting SIMS patches...

Capita have added functionality in to the front end of SIMS to import student email addresses from the Spring Release 2020

 

The new functionality will require a csv file. The csv file will need a unique identifier for each student, you can choose from any of the 3 options below

1. Surname, Forename, Gender, Date of Birth

2. Surname, Forename, Admission Number

3. Surname, Forename, UPN

 

The Spring 2020 upgrade of SIMS is due out on the 13^th March.

Once you are on the Spring upgrade you will have a new menu route 'Routines | Data In | Student Data | Import from Spreadsheet', once you’ve selected your csv file to import you will be taken to a matching screen where you tell SIMS what each column represents by right clicking on the column header and picking the required field.

Does anybody know if there's a patch / script / routine to DELETE all the email addresses currently saved against a students record to be able to do a fresh bulk upload to the SIMS... we've changed domain names and need to wipe out the old quickly / easilty, ideally without going into each record.

Not sure, but I think if you import your new addresses as Work, Main and Primary, that should ensure that anything like EduLink or InTouch will use those new addresses rather than the old.
