Can anyone recommend a reasonably decent set of earbuds which don’t have those stupid silicone tips on the end of them? If they have an iOS compatible volume control/mic, all the better.

 

EarPods don’t stay in my ears and I hate the in-ear earphones with the silicon tips on them, I’ve find them very uncomfortable.

 

I don’t want to spend that much, maybe £25-30.

Do you want them to be bluetooth?

When you say buds do you mean cans as most of the buds I have seen have silicon tips of various sizes you can change?

They do go on sale for a bit less than the current price but its still probably a bit high for you. They are not crazy bass loaded like normal beats either.

I’ve tried various different in ear buds with silicon tips and tried the different sizes but I don’t get on with any of the ones I’ve tried.

 

I’ve got a reasonably decent set of cans that I’m happy with but I could do with something smaller when I don’t feel like wearing them.

Have you considered bone conducting headphones. They don't go into your ear at all, so definitely don't have those annoying silicone tips on them. Something like these, as an alternative to full on cans

I tried a set of bone conducting headphones in Costco a few weeks back, not this particular model mind, and they were superb. I think the ones that I tried were Bose, and super expensive, hence the reason why I didn't purchase them there and then, but I'm definitely considering a set.

 

You're right about the description on these ones though. Chinglish at it's finest!

see I want mine for the gym, so the bone ones would be no good because I'd hear the gym music and grunting bros.

I have a pair of AfterShokz bone conducting headphones and they're OK but the battery has a habit of running out at inconvenient times. Plus I'm not a huge fan of how tightly they have to grip your head to work and they need fairly precise placement on your cheek bones not to sound like complete garbage. If they got knocked, that all goes to pot.

I tried a high-end set out in Costco a few weeks back. I think they were Bose, but I'm not 100% certain. The sound quality was fantastic, but so was the price unfortunately, so I ended up walking away from them. I'm definitely going to get a set though as soon as I have enough spare pennies to invest in them.

Thanks for pointing this out. I was ready to invest in some after trying a set for 5-10 minutes in Costco. I hadn't really took the battery life into consideration or how they would perform whilst running etc, as I was standing still in the shop at the time.

try some more in store and jog on the spot, so something jolty.... see if they move. I think the pressure on my head from them would get to me after a while.

Downside is they (in my ears at least - YEMV) really cut out external noise to the point where colleagues can unintentionally creep up on your and make you jump.
