bodminman Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 Hi there, is there a digital tester that will continously test a cable for a period of time instead of the bog standard testers that just test the once and then you have to keep pressing the button to restart the test? Hope that makes sense? Thanks
DalekSec Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 Depends on your budget, we use this, does everything you've asked for and more! https://www.idealnetworks.net/uk/en/products/cable-testing/copper-testing/cable-verifiers-vdv-ii-series.aspx 1

I was just looking at this device on the Comms Express website. Looks good and I'll probably be placing an order for the Plus version this afternoon. Many thanks
DalekSec Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 We have the pro model, been life saving (not litally) at some times! Our prep schools wiring was all over the place would of taken us weeks without it. Took a couple of days with it! 1

petben Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Anything you can plug a network cable in and it will display the IP address it picks up from dhcp?
Chris_Cook Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 I've also recently got a pockethernet, but not really used it much yet. It uses your mobile phone as the display (via bluetooth). It can show an IP address from dhcp, as well as lldp info and bit error rate. Also has a few other features.
chazzy2501 Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 I have a fluke Linkrunner the 2011 version. it was left over from when we ran cisco. it can get an ip address (dhcp) and ping it. But for most cable diagnostics I prefer my Fluke 620 LAN cablemeter.
