I've got a project at work which I am working on for a dept who have a Juniper EX4200 and I've been helping them implement IPv6. So far I have configured an IPv6 interface for internal use and setup connectivity to our ISP with a static route which all works no problem all done through the GUI.

 

I've got to next setup BGP on IPv6 as we have multiple connections and the resilience is needed, unfortuantely this is through CLI only.

 

My query is around rollbacks, does anyone know if these involve a reboot of the EX4200?? Or is their another way to revert a change after it has been commited?

You know about the commit confirm option in Junos? so you can commit a change and if you don't confirm it within the time you specified it will auto roll back for you (great if you may lock yourself out) or if you still have access but lost to the device / can see its a mess you can roll back, I never had any reboot of the switch doing config changes I made in my EX4200s but it didn't involve IPv6.

You shouldn't need to reboot for BGP settings.

Maybe me being over cautious, to be honest if it needs a reboot to revert the change it is not out of the question, they are aware of that :-).

That is a really good idea, I've had to run accross site after making a mistake on a link on HP switch a few years back, I've only done it the once .
