Hi All,

I have a 2010 MacPro that looks like it will just be eligible to run High Sierra. It's currently running OS X Lion 10.7.5 and it has an ATTO PCI SAS driver that it uses for an external tape drive. My question is this: If I do an in-place upgrade and update the operating system to High Sierra 10.13.5, will it retain the ATTO driver from the earlier version - and if so would it probably still work? I tried doing a fresh install of 10.13.5 but the PCI SAS card wasn't even recognised, so had to roll it back to put the driver back on.

Many thanks.

Thanks for your response. The ATTO website has a driver for 10.8.5, I wondered if I did an in-place upgrade if it would retain that driver - but from what you're saying it won't. Oh well, it'll just have to upgrade it to Mountain Lion.

Compatibility between ML and at least EC is very good - I'd expect that driver to work on versions later than 10.8, but can't confirm it for sure. Would be worth doing, possibly by doing a CCC backup beforehand so you can easily roll back. Edited by 3s-gtech
