Displaying content to TVs

Hi - We have several TVs around the school that we want to use to share work/achievements etc. ideally in a way that can be managed centerally. We are using a combination of Windows 10, lastest Microsoft Server, iPads and a single mac (running as a cacheing server)

 

We can hook a PC up to the TVs if necessary or do something clever with Raspberry Pis etc.

 

I would like teachers to be able to update content themselves (from their iPads or desktops)

 

How would you do it?

We use showpoint to do this. You need a pc connected to each screen that can run powerpoint. Very simple for staff to use. They just update a centrally held powerpoint.

We use Google Chrome Sign builder and any of our Chromebooks where the screen doesn't work but the HDMI output still does. We just run a Google Slides presentation on a loop. We can just share the presentation with anyone that we want to be able to edit it. We have some that show the same presentation, and others have a different one on a different schedule.

Yup, this'd be my recommendation too. You can use a Chromebit (note not a Chromecast) if you don't have any half-dead Chromebooks.

Hands down this is by far the best solution for digital signage in education, they offer free 30 day trials N.B. i do not work for them

We use Xibo for our digital signage screens.

Not a free option unfortunately, but we use the Digital Signage section of our Planet eStream subscription. Their latest version supports a client that can run on raspberry pi's that you can then connect to your TV's.

Same here with Planet eStream but running on an eclectic collection of hardware but all being rebuilt to Windows 10 LTSB.

 

@themightymrp what's the performance of a RasPi like running the eSign client? Been waiting for the Linux version for years

I wish I could tell you. Although the feature is available we currently have little Zotac ZBOX PC's running ours I need to test it with a Pi really as it would be much easier to hide behind the screen!

I am looking for something else as well, as currently we use Xibo but I won't be so readily available to add content to Xibo in the future so want something a bit easier to use for staff. Ill give ShowPoint a go. Thanks.
