Ranger 5.9

We are just about to upgrade Ranger to 5.9 (hopefully this will be the last time) i'm hoping it will solve an issue where Corel Draw crashes when you try to save a document.

 

Anyway i'm wondering if anyone has done the upgrade already and if you had any issues?

As far as I'm aware we've had Ranger 5.9 on for atleast five months and it's not been a problem. I've only been here for three months and there's been no trouble that I've seen.

So you didn't do the upgrade then? I'm also wondering if there are any prerequisites for the upgrade.

Im not going near 5.9 as its full of Vista capability functions.

 

We run XP as our base OS on clients & Ive already had probs with the new account manager.

Not bothered about Vista compatibility as we'll of ditched it before we go there but there is a bug fix that we need and as we currently have a subscription the upgrade is free.

Slider what was the problem you had with account manager? We can't get the thing to install.

 

Would have bothered Sentinel before now but as we were installing a new server at Easter I had hoped it would install OK.

 

But no change unfortunately.

Hidden shares mate.

 

Ranger recommended using hidden shares on version 1, which we followed. But Version 2 they removed the feature which created a host of problems when setting up new accounts.

 

When I spoke to thier support, they were so unhelpfull.

 

So I uninstalled it and continue to use version one. I am currently actively seeking an alternative to Ranger as we speak mate.

Don't blame you. We're thinking about moving away from ranger the only tool we use really is LAN Ranger, this is the only tool that i haven't been able to replace.
