DJ-1701 Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 I've been asked to look into an automated visitor entry system for the Primary School. They want a system that visitors, staff and pupils can use to sign in and out, that will interface with SIMS to update attendance registers and print photographic ID stickers for visitors. Anyone got any ideas or recommendations? The school have also asked about a tablet that can keep an up to date cached copy of the emergency contact information from SIMS in the event of an evacuation. So, any ideas or recommendations on this one would be useful too. Cheers. 1
sted Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 inventry seems to work well in the schools i support that have it. plugs into sims but they dont seem to like replacing faulty hardware had one with a dodgy nic for ages they kept saying it was a cabling fault even when that machine worked with a usb nic on the same cable as the internal diddnt like (as did everything else i plugged into it) not sure about cached data to a tablet though 1
robsonma Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Yes +1 for inventry used it quite a bit in the past. 1
paulellam Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 +1 for Inventry, at my old school we had one of the first ones that went into a school, its still running now after probably 6 years 1
robjduk Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 My bloody school went with the first people they met (Paxton) which although ok, does not seem to work with SIMS. Annoying as hell as I wanted Invertry but it was all ordered before I even knew we were getting a door system 1
Snuffkins Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 +1 for Inventry, we've used it here for a couple of years, now and the system just seems to work. Haven't had to deal with support, so i can't comment on that side of things. 1
DJ-1701 Posted March 14, 2018 Author Posted March 14, 2018 So I can see there is a lot of love on here for installing https://inventry.co.uk/ so far then ... or just a lot of commonality. Any more thoughts? 1
jmak Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 We had a quote - special prices as we were referred by another local school. Product looks OK, but not remotely cost effective for us. Have you had a quote yet? 1
icemonkey Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 No complaints for InVentry and we've found their support to be pretty good! We print the evacuation lists but they do have an app so it can be accessed on a mobile device. Attendance marks can be written back to SIMS at the click of a button so pastoral staff are happy too! 1
DJ-1701 Posted March 15, 2018 Author Posted March 15, 2018 Have you had a quote yet? Haven't requested one yet, still on the research stage.
simonw Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 We are having an Inventry demo next Friday. Have Net2 at the moment. 1
DJ-1701 Posted March 15, 2018 Author Posted March 15, 2018 Some other companies that have been suggested are SG World, Leaders in Visitor Management Systems and Osborne Technologies Limited anyone used them?
mowgli82 Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 @DJ-1701 - I think inventry are the only ones that write back to SIMS SG World can't as much as they tell you it can. 2
stevewill6 Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 We have been looking at Genee Registrar, CB Secure Pass and Inventry. 1
LincolnE Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 A bit late to the party, but I'd advise against Genee Registrar for the time being. 1
stevewill6 Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 A bit late to the party, but I'd advise against Genee Registrar for the time being. We went with CB Secure pass. Install is today. 1
MD120 Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 EntrySign from Osborune. This does the write back to Sims as OP requested as well as other Good features. Good support from them when required it. Them and inVentry are the 2 I'd reccomend 1
davemarble Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 I've had a demo of Entry sign, genie and inventory. Leaning toward Entry sign but waiting for quotes. 1
DJ-1701 Posted April 19, 2018 Author Posted April 19, 2018 So far we have had a visit a few days ago from SG World. Looking at the system, it looks good. Unfortunately still waiting on the quote being sent through though. I bet with regard to GDPR they are a tad busy though.
DJ-1701 Posted April 25, 2018 Author Posted April 25, 2018 Forgot to mention that I contacted them, and it seems they made a typo with my e-mail address. Easily done. 1
Ditto Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 A bit late to the party, but I'd advise against Genee Registrar for the time being. Why so?
