Hi Everyone,

Our head if ICT has come to us today and said he doesn't like using Serif Web Plus and he's used to Dreamweaver and how much would it cost to get it. As you can imagine the price is too much for us to pay.

Is anyone out there using an alternative to either of these applications to allow their students to design websites?

The software needs to be easy to use and affordable. We are going to need the software to be installed on 70 machines which will be used by 240 students across the school at different times (maximum of 70 students at any one time).

Hopefully someone will be able to offer a suitable alternative that we could test out.

Thanks

Creative Cloud education licensing is circa £22 per machine per year with a minimum buy of 25 for the full Creative Cloud suite.

Yep we were looking to change for our Win10 upgrade but after a lot of discussions with all the departments we found it easier to license it at £22~ a machine for the main suites and just put freebies for "less important areas"

For standard 32~ room you're only talking £700 for a year.

A thread full: Opensource or cheaper alternative to Dreamweaver

This questions crops up frequently.

In all fairness, that thread was started seven years ago. Kompozer hasn't had a release in that long, Fusion hasn't been updated in three years, Expression Web is dead, Bluefish doesn't look like it's a WYSIWYG editor which, if the teacher wants to use Dreamweaver, is probably what he wants. The only really actively developed WYSIWYG editor that's in that thread is BlueGriffon.

It doesn't hurt to ask these kinds of questions every so often. The world of software rarely stands still.
