ICTICJTilson Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I have just started to support a primary school that has their G-Suite domain setup by the local secondary school but they want to move away from them supporting it and manage it themselves. The secondary school manage several domains under the one G-Suite tenancy as well as their own and refuse to give me administrator access which I can understand so the only way I can see to do this is create a new G-Suite tenancy/domain and start to move data across via google Takeout on each of the accounts? Does anyone know of an easier way? The Chromebook licenses are also registered under the secondary school so I'm going to have to try and move them somehow if that's possible, the school does have proof of purchase. Any help would be much appreciated.
FN-GM Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 You can't transfer Chromebook licences. You will need to buy new I am afraid. What content are you looking to move out of G Suite? Mail, Calendar and Contacts can be done via the built in tools. Drive is a bit more of a challenge though.

We originally started G Suite on a domain and then changed our domain name so I created a new G Suite domain and Google Support moved all my Chromebook licences over. Still have control of both domains. Only difference here was that we owned both domains. The secondary school manage it for you but you must own the domain name surely? Edited March 3, 2018 by fiza 1

fiza Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Interesting! I was told they won't do that! How did you migrate data please? We didn't as the first domain only contained a handful of users when we were trialing G Suite. No data migration was required.

As for the content I want to get their domain and move it into their own G-Suite tenancy with all their data but there doesn't seem to be a way of doing this hence why I think I will have to do a migration. If that is the case then it will be Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Drive. I appreciate there is built in tools but I'm not sure how helpful the secondary school will be.
