nathan3388 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Hi I have manage to get windows 10 to push via sccm but i am having problems with changing the drive letter from x to c. Also windows 10 willnt join the domain in the task sequence was wondering if anyone could help. sccm is working fine as well as we build windows 7 stations with it. just wonder if anyone could help.
gaz350b Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Hi Nathan, 1st of all what version are you running? The fact you say 2012 sounds like your config manager (sccm) is running an old version. You really should be running at sccm at the same version levels as the os you are deploying. For example 1709 you should be using config manager 1706 but 1710 is recommended. You will also need to ensure you are running the correct version of the ADK that is supported for he os. Of course as you might need to upgrade your sccm you will also need to upgrade SQL along the way to ensure it’s running the min support versions.
nathan3388 Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 Should I be running sccm 2016 then?. I can get windows 10 push with this version of sccm but cannot get it join the network that is all? And the drive letter
nathan3388 Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 Windows 10 1506 as well as want to test how it updates to the newer versions to
Norphy Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 SCCM no longer has a version number like that, they’ve gone over to the SaaS model like Windows 10. You are best upgrading to the current branch, yes. The latest version is 1710. That has full support for the current version of w10 on the SAC, 1709 1
ADMaster Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 I had this issue on an early version of W10 too. The answer is to set OSDPreserveDriveLetter to false. I don't think I have needed that variable in the TS for a while now. This is a short term fix, you really should upgrade to 1710.
nathan3388 Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 Okay will try that will it still support windows 7 installs??
supawat1 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 This article will help you out nicely about OSDPreserveDriveLetter https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/configurationmgr/2014/04/28/how-to-ensure-that-windows-installs-on-c-during-a-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-osd-task-sequence/
gaz350b Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Try the osd option above and not sure if win 7 is supported on the latest ADK I think support was pulled in the 160* series. Doesn’t mean it won’t work though. When you are up to date there are some nice premade Task sequences and health collections at https://github.com/winadminsdotorg/SystemCenterConfigMgr
jslate1980 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Okay will try that will it still support windows 7 installs?? Yep I’m deploying windows 7 on 1710.
