@ass17 Have you come across Interactive Electronic Question Papers from EdExcel? Our exam officer has just mentioned them. They appear to be PDF files which you can type in. Wondered if they could be imported to ExamWritePad so we still get things like auto save and control over the interface.

Not really thought about it because because EWP is only geared up for writing answers.

There would need to be a conversion from PDF to Word, then Word to RTF, to even begin to think about importing into EWP.

Can’t see it’s value other than the student not having to look at a physical question paper. Against the work involved converting even if it allowed to be done….

Hi All,

Version 5 is ready for you all. You can stay on version 4.8.0.0 if you so wish but make sure that you check the notes below to see if anything will apply to you.

· CHANGED: Main EWP UI Theme colours have changed to reflect the newer Word 365 application.

· ADDED: Official Support for Windows 11.

· ADDED: New accented characters for Russian and Italian have been added.

· ADDED: New Russian Keyboard and Japanese Keyboard have been added to the accented characters list.

· FIXED: A delay of a few seconds was occurring when swapping languages on the Accented Characters sidebar.

· ADDED: Ability to override the disabled coversheet not used by JCQ and will allow you to continue to print off a custom equivalent Form 4. The config option to turn this on is called ‘EnableGenericCoversheet’.

· CHANGED: USB Monitoring, Key Generator, EWP_Launcher and ConfigEditorGUI applications have all been converted to C# language for future development to continue once VB has been depreciated.

· FIXED: EWP Launcher application had incorrect update URL.

· FIXED: MSI installer now ignores the JSON config file if you have made changes to it. Thus, not overwriting it but preserving it.

· FIXED: MSI Installer should have now the C++ 2013 Runtime built in as a pre-requisite check.

Download via the inbuilt update, or via www.examwritepad.com or the link in my edugeek signature.

You enter the answers in to the paper from what I've seen.

Not sure how exam boards really expect you to use them.

I think for now, we will stay as we are. Electronic online exam papers will not be around for a few years yet. If not longer, I hope!

Hi All,

I`m just about to push this out (I plan on deploying the .msi installer out via SCCM to each device) however I need to disable spellchecker prior to the exams, I believe this is done by editing the ExamWritePadSettings.json configuration file. Can anyone recommend a free application to extract and re-build the msi before I push it out. Or does anyone have a simpler way to push this out?

Thank you

I can send you out a version that suits your environment.

Just email me over your edited config and I can bundle it in an MSI.

Hi,

We are running mocks at the moment with v5. We have one student we have been asked to have spell check enabled. They are in an AD group which is entered on the Override_Option_ADGroup and the Override_Option_Name is set for the Spelling Button. When running ExamWritePad the button reappears on the ribbon but nothing happens when clicking on it. SpellCheck_CheckAsYouType is also set to 1 but doesn't appear to do anything. Thoughts? Thanks.

I can't check my config atm, but try it the other way. Block spellcheck globally then add just the students you want to enable it for into the group. I think that's how I have mine configured.

Hi, this is how we currently have it set (or at least tried). By default all ExamWritePad users have SpellCheck disabled unless they are a member of this group.

That is exactly how it was meant to be used.

Disable a feature globally then allow it via the override for users in a specific AD group.

Well the icon reappears in the ribbon correctly, I just can't do anything with it

I can confirm is doesn’t do anything, so I’ve labelled it as an issue, I will get onto it as a matter of urgency tonight, patched version available tomorrow morning.

Good morning. Fantastic work. I tested this version this morning and can confirm that the spell check is now working with the override.

Thank you.

Hi @ass17,

The Override_Option_Name settings is it possible please to re-enable the Disable_Ribbon_Btn_Spelling and SpellCheck_CheckAsYouType options at the same time please?? 😀

Really appreciate you help!

I’m on it, leave it with me as I’m sure I can sort this out over the weekend.
