TwistedHelixis Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I don't have an iPhone and have just been sent an email from a governor asking for instructions to let him receive the schools gmail emails. My understanding is you can connect gmail to the built in apple email or download and install the Gmail app, and I am wondering which is the best option and simplest to explain. Thanks
ShellfishClive Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Adding a Gmail account via the default app is really straight forward. If their iPhone is up to date they need to: 1. Go to Settings 2. Account & Password 3. Add Account 4. Choose "Google" 5. Enter their details 6. It should now work. 1
TwistedHelixis Posted February 27, 2018 Author Posted February 27, 2018 thanks @ShellfishClive perfect.
3s-gtech Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I find the GMail app more useful than the Mail app, I use both for different accounts. Searching etc is much better in GMail. 1
elsiegee40 Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I prefer the gmail app too. It handles my folders much better 1
FN-GM Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 The Gmail app is more consistent with the web interface. For that reason I would use the Gmail app. 1
Marci Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 If they're an iPhone user used to using the native iPhone email client, leave them with that rather than the gMail app. If they had the gumption to use the gmail app, then logic would suggest they would've just asked for the username and password and cracked on with it, rather than for specific instructions on how to add an email account. internetuser Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Use the gmail app. Apple mail app sometimes has wobbles with gmail for some reason.
fiza Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Use the gmail app. Apple mail app sometimes has wobbles with gmail for some reason. We have found this too. We recommend users use the Gmail app.
ADMaster Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Gmail app here too, in addition to what others have already said, the label colors come across on it to quickly spot different emails.
