Widgit InPrint 3 Install Issues

Thanks Joanne I'll add that as an exception, apparently this cludge fest is required on all staff devices at one of my sites, circa 200 laptops, and there's only one tech on the ground.

When I get my hands on the thing I'll see if I can come up with a PowerShell script that handles all of the oddities, so you can just set the relevant variables (install source path, etc.) and apply the script at boot... obviously will share here.

Oh good gosh. I'm complaining at having to install it on 25 machines!!!!!!!

Try to manually install the MSI's, /passive will do it for you. If it fails with a manual install, then call Widgit.

 

InPrint3 will fail to install if the licenses have run out on Widgits server side, may need them to reset the count. I had that problem after rebuild a load of machines.

Has anyone managed to deploy core.msi through SCCM? Ive done the admin install of the original core.msi so it creates another with all the settings but when i deploy it out through sccm it just fails with the message Past Due - will be retried.

 

Installing the core.msi manual through a cmd prompt works fine.

Sounds like the SCCM date required installed by thing is wrong

I have a few installs to do at one of my MATs. The big issue is having 3 (or 4) MSI files to install. It would be simpler to have one MSI file you can install with Group Policy (or PDQ Deploy etc).

 

If you have a better method you're wanting to try out, please let me know.

Thanks for replying. We don't currently have a prototype installer but I will certainly get back to you when we do (and it is very likely to be a single installer, which is more easily customisable). If you wanted to send me an email, I'd love to chat about your challenges with the current installation method and anything I can do to assist. Your feedback would be really appreciated to guide a better solution for InPrint installations in the future.

sorry to bump this, but having issues now with inPrint4 - the auto activation is having issues - you can manually activate but i have to do this for 100 + machines so don't want to have to do that for every one. Have explicitly allowed all the widgit activation sites but still getting a:

: Handler: Connection closing on SSL failure (Domain: api.activation.widgit.com) Error (watchguard)

You are using watchguard as a filtering proxy then? Seems like ye olde software is ignoring proxy/ca cert settings or trying to use ye olde TLS versions? Any logs on watchguard?
