spacebar Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 (edited) I find the remote RAV3 system pretty poor, does anyone know if there are any plans to replace/upgrade it? Half of the time it doesn't work properly. The browser crashes, its slow, JAVA! I know the LGFL don't like us using remote tools, but it would help if the remote access system they recommend you use was decent. Edited January 21, 2018 by spacebar
Zoom7000 Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 You could always get your head to enable category 2 remote access on the LGfL support site. This would then enable most of the popular remote access tools. Also, with regards to RAv3. Don't bother with the frontend. Just download the Cisco Any Connect VPN client and open a VPN connection to your school server. Atomwide support will be able to help you get this setup 1
Popular Post JohnJackson Posted January 21, 2018 Popular Post Posted January 21, 2018 Agree its time for a overhaul of LGfL products across the Board. I'm working on a plan that involves massive investment. As such, I will be making a number of announcements this year offering new products to schools as part of their package or at brilliant price points. Malwarebytes enterprise will be offered free to all schools in London shortly. Meraki Mobile Device Manager at a price less than half the current best market rate. A new service called SmartBuy will be available to schools. I've asked colleagues to give me feedback on priorities - let me know what you want!! 6
spacebar Posted January 21, 2018 Author Posted January 21, 2018 (edited) I think another "small" thing that would help would be a OTP app we could download for mobile devices instead of buying tags, they are pretty expensive! (I know LGFL offer them free for first time schools but IT staff tend to change a lot these days) In addition it would surely be better if you were to ever force all admins to use two factor. Users might be more willing to use it if they don't have to carry around a tag. Edited January 21, 2018 by spacebar 1
JohnJackson Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 LGfL and Atomwide have been discussion how we can provision this better - and LGfL is going to invest in soft otp tags that will not require a tag. Expect this innovation to be launched in January. We'll also link this with the mobile app and I'm looking at a new generation of mobile app for schools to assist you in due course. Any thoughts on what you'd like from a mobile app would be welcome. 3
gh5000 Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 @JohnJackson said today that Meraki will be free, not "at a price less than half the current best market rate" as above. How do we get malwarebytes?
JohnJackson Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Great to hear from you. More than happy to confirm that the licences can be claimed from:- [email protected] 1
JohnJackson Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 I've placed the order on Atomwide (or its imminent) to deliver softotp tags. Expect more developments with authentication to make schools lives easier. 3
fiza Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 @JohnJackson So Meraki MDM free to LGfL schools or less than half the current best market rate?
JohnJackson Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 Fiza, yes - Meraki Systems Manager being provided to LGfL schools as part of our digital experience bundle - send request to [email protected] - and we'll be in touch shortly. 1
fiza Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Fiza, yes - Meraki Systems Manager being provided to LGfL schools as part of our digital experience bundle - send request to [email protected] - and we'll be in touch shortly. Was that yes to free or to less than half price?
gh5000 Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 It's free. Says so here in the video Check out @LGfL’s Tweet: 2
JohnJackson Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Fiza, its included in our bundle (subject to a Fair Use Policy) along with Malwarebytes, InterceptX and soon to be announced Sophos Server Advance. Big savings for schools and also means that schools are safer too as part of our new CyberProtect services. Contact [email protected] Best wishes 3
rad Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 @fiza Soft OTP tags now work using the Google Authenticator app (or others) Activate your soft OTP key at support.lgfl.net (>My Account >Register OTP >Replace; install the MS / Google authenticator app, scan the QR code and you’re done) SafeBlog from LGfL DigiSafe – Online Safety & Safeguarding Manager Mark Bentley blogs…
JohnJackson Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Rad, please let me know how this is working for you.
rad Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Rad, please let me know how this is working for you. @JohnJackson - only starting using it this morning, so far so good. I have enrolled my colleague onto it too. Any issues I will speak to support.
fiza Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 @JohnJackson - there was mention of a deal between LGfL and Neverware at the tech conference but no mention of costs. Standard price of a perpetual Neverware licence is £39, is it lower for LGfL Schools or free? 1
fiza Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 @JohnJackson - at the Conference you announced that LGfL Schools would get an increase in broadband speeds once you had negotiated with Virgin. Are you in a position now to give any further info on this? 1
fiza Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 I'll be in a position to make an announcement in June @JohnJackson Any news?
xicor Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 its shocking how cheap they are! I dont know why LGFL sells them for alot more ??? https://www.microcosm.co.uk/order/product.php?ProductID=346&_ga=2.32470846.1632645635.1540109528-1150672160.1540109528 I think another "small" thing that would help would be a OTP app we could download for mobile devices instead of buying tags, they are pretty expensive! No need to spend any money at all.
JohnJackson Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 Colleagues, there are now soft otp tags available now so you don't need the physical ones. I know this because I spent a lot of money with Atomwide making them available for schools! Let me know if you need more info and I'll dig it out for you. 1
JohnJackson Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 If you're an LGfL customer you receive a number bundled into the subscription depending on whether you're a primary or secondary. We've also secured a very good deal - because we buy for thousands of schools - on additional licences. 1
JohnJackson Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 I will be writing to schools this term with some amazing news about LGfL - can't say anymore at this stage but you won't, hopefully, be disappointed. 2
Ertech Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 As you are aware RAV3 is not that userfriendly - is there a replacement available? Thanks
