trekmad Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Ebuyer have annoyed us so much I wanted to warn anyone who buys from them about their appalling customer service and T&C's. Before Christmas we ordered a printer and set of inks which should have been delivered next day. The nominated courier was Yodel who we have problems with as they normally try to deliver after 6pm when the school is closed. Yodel tried to deliver next day but failed as it was so late and then the school packed up for Christmas. We came back in the new year to find the printer was delivered but the inks were not. We contacted Yodel and was told they had lost the parcel. We then called Ebuyer who told us that due to their T&C's unless they are contacted within 48 hours of non delivery they would not help us. We escalated it to management at Ebuyer however were told the answer was still no. We have now contacted Yodel for compensation but they have told us we have to go through Ebuyer to get the form completed as we are not the customer. We have therefore lost a set of inks and their money value. We have closed our account with Ebuyer and want to warn everyone of this particular T&C and appalling customer service. Can anyone recommend a good supplier with a website you can order through but can also help in a bidding process for larger purchases?
RTi78 Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 You will need to register but have a look at https://marketplace.probrand.co.uk/home
Rob_D Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 I always liked Softcat's Ecat portal for smaller purchases (I think you have to call them to get an account set up). And obviously they can quote for bigger jobs as well. I know a few people on here have gotten irritating levels of "is there anything you need right now?" calls from them, but it's not been my experience. Yet...
Arthur Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 We have closed our account with Ebuyer and want to warn everyone of this particular T&C and appalling customer service. eBuyer are known for their rubbish customer service. Have you ever seen the following article...? www.theregister.co.uk/2013/12/24/ebuyer_rates_staff_on_returns_rejected/ The blue leader board displays a running score for each employee based on how many so-called return merchandise authorisations (RMAs) they have refused. If your school paid for them via credit card you could issue a chargeback? 1
Davit2005 Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 (edited) I've had issues with Yodel, eBuyer offered full replacement, this was last xmas when Yodel said they had delivered and hadn't. I've purchased a few bits but not much value for home use. Edited January 16, 2018 by Davit2005
Nightshade2k Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 i took them to the european court when they wouldnt accept my return due to a missing plastic bracket which the manual asked me to remove as part of its installation!
Edu-IT Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 I would seek legal advice rather than give in. Seems wholly unfair.
Blue_Cookeh Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Sounds like theft to me - they have your money, and you don't have the product you paid for. The courier is eBuyer's problem, not yours.
Edu-IT Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 When you checkout is there any indication that you are agreeing to their terms such as a checkbox?
XiJ Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 When I ran a (small) business ebuyer were very good, despite a not always great reputation. Occasionally I had to be quite firm but 99% time no issues. I’ve also used personally without problems including returns. A business account does have different (less?!) protection / T&C’s though. Still they seem to be being a bit unfair. I’d kick up a fuss but ultimately take your money elsewhere.
forkies Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 I stopped using them two years ago in a dispute about a incorrectly labelled hover on their website (110v instead of 240v delivered). Attempted to use them again after a year and a half as they had some good deals but ended up in a delivery dispute despite clear cctv evidence, had to wait a month for delivery of items their warehouse never dispatched in the first place. Told them I would never use them again and all our local schools too. I thoroughly support Softcat and their ecat portal as an alternative.
FN-GM Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 I only ever used them personally. They kept locking my account for "security" reasons and wanted ID etc. I gave up eventually, I couldn't be bothered. When I did place orders I never had any issues.
newpersn Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Used ebuyer for about 2 years and not had any problems. Odd returns or problems with yodel but nothing that wasn't sorted quickly.
