Theldron Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Hi all, I have been asked to find a helpdesk for the site manager so that staff can log maintenance calls on their and he can keep records. I have been looking at Webmans (Craig Rodway) Sitejobs, but am struggling to install it without instructions, can anyone point me in the right direction? Cheers
newpersn Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 We use Every. Does everything we need it to. Log jobs, Assets, etc...
gtg93 Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Can't comment on that as I've never used it, however I'm sure @webman or someone else will be able to help you with this come the morning. An alternative however is OS Ticket if not - plenty of info and support online for this
kidpressingbuttons Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Mine use spice works. They love it!
Theldron Posted January 12, 2018 Author Posted January 12, 2018 Hi guys, Thanks hopefully ill hear from @webman or someone who knows the system soon. They are looking for a simple system (as neither are very IT literate), something that staff can log calls on and they can prioritise their jobs, and has a calendar as well. Also needs to be free. Cheers again
neonetman Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 We use GLPI with a custom simplistic front end that is embedded in our intranet. No-one ever sees the GLPI interface
tomgrindle Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Hey! We use HESK over here. https://www.hesk.com/ ... works well! Give us a shout if you want to know more
unixman_again Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 We use HESK too, with three instances. One for IT, one for the Caretakers and one for the Art techies. I think Sysaid (by the same company as HESK) is a better product - we used it at the last school I was at, but you have to pay for it.
webman Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Hey sadams1980, thanks for checking out Sitejobs! Sadly, the project hasn't been updated in a long time, so I'm not sure how useful it's going to be for you! It doesn't have a calendar though - it's just a simple categorised list. The implementation of it was also very much tied to the way it worked in the school I worked at, which would take some time and development skills to overcome: Its authentication was handled via IIS Integrated Windows Authentication, with Classic ASP scripts - This could be re-created but it would have to be tailored to your setup. The method for staff to log issues was also only built in to the school's Intranet (then also Classic ASP) It's just a form that submits to a Sitejobs page, but this would need to be created, hosted somewhere etc. Some of the code has certain values hard-coded into the files, too, so you would also need to update those. I'm also not sure if it would work with more modern versions of PHP, given its age. If after all of that, you are comfortable with code and making the changes, let me know how far you've got and where you need some specific guidance and I'll see what I can do. Craig.
timbo343 Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 We use a spiceworks setup and they seem to like it with no issues. At the end of the day all it's doing is recording jobs.
NewFormz Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 We use OS ticket for logging both IT and Site requests. Staff just select which department they want to log a job with. It's handy having it all under one system as it's easier for staff to access and if a job is logged to the wrong department it is easy to transfer.
Theldron Posted January 23, 2018 Author Posted January 23, 2018 Thanks for all the help guys. Have installed Hesk and they seem really pleased with it.
emenHX Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Have setup SpiceWorks cloud edition here and whole of the premises team use the mobile app.
