Had one kind of die (paper feed/cutter) and replaced like-for-like, but it was heavily used (signing in labels for visitors). Takes cheapy Amazon rolls, the driver is pretty flexible and stable, and it's easy enough to refill. Also got a little Dymo one that has been excellent - very similar design. That doesn't work as hard though. 1
