Thanks @georgeescott for the information! Extremely helpful - even though I don't think, from the sounds of things, its fixable!(?)

Can I assume that your school is still using Corero?

So, Civica claim they still support it (which is good from a Cyber Essentials requirement) but they won't or are unable to update it to support current version of software??? Meaning that I may have to resort to using Office 2016 to make it work???

Perhaps Finance Dept. need to start looking for updated / supported software!

There's workarounds, but some of the Outlook issues aren't fixable in our case. Worth seeing what Civica say for your issues with it.

College/MAT, yes.

My interpretation of it was that they'd fix bugs (excluding the IQ Objects Outlook integration issues) and add features that HMRC require but that was about it in terms of development.

I agree, if it can't support modern technology and their Cloud product isn't designed to replace it then I think it may be time to see what else is out there.

One week on, and still no response or update in relation to my support ticket with Civica.....

Tried phoning, after 3 different phone numbers managed to locate the correct one for support. Got through to an automated message stating no support calls via telephone and to use the support portal instead. Followed by the phone line automatically cutting off... :censored:

Managed to speak with Network Manager in a nearby school who also uses Corero R32000 on Windows 10, and despite some initial issues it is working - though they are only using Office 2016 (appears to be a common theme, as @georgeescott mentioned).

However, MS Office 2016 Mainstream support ended on 13th October 2020 - so I don't want to use older / unsupported software either....

I contacted one of their Support Consultants directly who put me in touch with the Technical Lead, but I think the general support address is: [email protected].

Office 2016 was a lot better with it compared with Microsoft 365 apps. I wonder what Office 2019/2022 would be like with it.

We're running R32000 on Win10 1909 and Office 2019.

I'm not aware of any issues; I certainly work closely with the finance team as their office is next door and the Director of Finance is my line manager.

I'll ask tomorrow.

I spent 7 months arguing with Civica that their product wasn't using TLS for emails, with logs to prove it.

Absolutely useless company. Avoid using them at all costs.

20 years in IT education sector helping others on here, and never once had to ask for help until meeting this software.

We have recently absorbed a school which used this software prior to joining our multi academy and due to a recent malware attack the installed files have become encrypted with no backup. Of cause nobody on site has a copy of the original install files and we are now no longer in contract as we have moved to different software, so no help from them.

We no longer use the software but do need to access the old data.

Does anyone have a copy of the res32000 installed directory they would kindly donate to help a fellow techie?

@howartp

Sorry to follow up, but just wondered if you had an opportunity to check the setup within your Finance Team???

Now been 12 days since I logged original support ticket with CIVICA regarding this issue, and still no acknowledgement! Just sent another email chasing...

Thanks,

Thought I'd update, just in case it helps others.

CIVICA Support finally responded (after 14 days) and advised to ensure we were using the 32-bit version of Office 365 etc.

We've used Office 365 x64 on our build, so I changed Finance computers to Office 365 x86 and so far, emailing invoices appears to be working ok.

There is a fix for the "smtp:" bug, which apparently, is a deliberate 'feature'. You can delete the SMTP from the R32000 registry key EMAILPREFIX. The EMAILPREFIX reg key can be found inside the database.

  1. Log in to R32000
  2. Go to System Control -> System -> Maintenance -> Registry Maintenance (need permissions to access this screen)
  3. Search on KEY and type EMAILPREFIX
  4. You will see a key with that name and when open, you can delete the smtp: in the data field

So turns out this 'fix' for the smtp: bug has it's caveats. If you apply it, PO's send better without having to change the addresses in Outlook. However, this then breaks remittances if you're using that within Resource 32000.

We've had to re-add the "smtp:" prefix again.
