Office 365 migration IT services company.

Hi

 

We are secondary school with 1000 users and planning to move to O365. We are going to join one of the academies and trust want us to change our email domain to their domain and we will be part of single multi domain trust. This type of migration requires a proper planning and implementation.

Please post IT companies who have done similar project or any IT companies who have good expertise in office 365 migration.

 

Any suggestion and help much appreciated.

As no one else has said it yet: If the academy trust want you to move to 365 and change your email domain then they should really be offering help and support doing it. If it's something they've asked all their schools to do then they must have previous experience with migrations.

 

That said, we used DM Systems when we moved from onside exchange to office 365 for about 1500 students plus 200ish staff and still work with them for our office 365 integration (and anything else MS related TBH). This sounds like something they could help you with.

What system are you migrating from?

 

I would have thought the MAT would have done this for you.

There are cloud based tools that will do this, but, for that volume it won’t be cheap at all. Does 1000 include students? Might be best to start a fresh with them and allow access to the old system for a period.

We are based in south west and using exchange 2010. 1000 users include students as well.

In that case, you could do it yourself, free of cost a number of ways. Both these 2 methods will preserve all data such as contacts, calendars etc.

 

1. Export from 2010 via PST and import back to 365. Can all be done in Powershell on bulk

2. Setup a hybrid system and do a mailbox migration.

 

I have done both of these are it isn't hard.

I would look at doing it yourself although a Hybrid may not be possible. Would also look at a cutover.

Yate based ComputerWorld offer a massive range of services to schools now including O365 Migration and Training. I've attended several of their superb seminars in Bristol and were I in control of my budget I'd certainly be exploring some of their services. We were lucky as back in 2014 a wonderful chap called Andy Ratcliffe worked with me in migrating us from Easymail to O365; unfortunately, Andy no longer seems to be available to the education World.
