SMART Notebook 11.4 MSI

Dear edugeek

 

I have a teacher that is adamant to use the SMART Notebook software . He has provided me with an the .exe installer for it that he has held on to but I require an MSI to deploy via SCCM. Unfortunatley I can't find this anywhere on SMARTS website or elsewhere...

 

Does anyone out there have an MSI of the SMART Notebook Software version 11.4 they would be willing to share with me? A Smart support technician confirmed that it is fine to use this verison of the software without a license key so hopefully it's okay to share the software too!

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Note: Unfortunately you can't download 11.4 though.

Isn't SMART 11 only licensed if it's on a SMARTboard or if a subscription has been taken out?

I have Smart notebook 11 as an exe but from what I can remember it does need a licence key even though it was one that Smart gave out themselves for free.

Even so, the terms of the license may mean that the install is only allowed onto a PC with connected SMART hardware, free key or not.

Email from SMART tech regarding the use of SMART Notebook 11.4 software without a license:

 

'Thank you for reaching out to SMART Technologies earlier. I apologize for the confusion about licensing related to SMART Notebook® 11.4 collaborative learning software.

SMART Notebook 11.4 does not require a license for use with SMART Board® interactive whiteboards. While it can be used with third-party hardware, a watermark will be present when in use. The following Knowledge Base article explains how licensing with SMART Notebook 11.4 works.

Watermark appears in SMART Notebook software

If you haven't been seeing a watermark when connected to third-party interactive displays, then this is entirely accidental. In order to remove the watermark, you will need to purchase a license. If you aren't receiving a watermark or have no issues with the watermark, then I see no reason why you will need to purchase a license.

Yep as they said you need a smartboard to use it:

 

SMART Notebook 11.4 does not require a license for use with SMART Board® interactive whiteboards

 

When SMART Notebook 11.x software was released, a software licensing option was available that entitled customers to use the software with a non-SMART interactive device and removed the watermark. That licensing option has since been replaced by SMART Learning Suite subscription licensing.

 

So if you already have one you're licensed, if you're not you aren't

yes but will not work on the latest mac os, SMART tech say that you need to use v16+

How can I install this please? It says I need admin privileges but I can't seem to open it under that.

I got this sometimes, run an admin CMD prompr, then run the installer from there.
