Changed from automatically assigning IP to manually assigning a few different free IPs with the relevant settings for subnet mask, DNS servers, gateway etc and this still didn't work. Another thread recommended uninstalling the network interfaces and then scanning for hardware changes which solved a similar issue, but that did not work in my case either.

 

Any suggestions?

There are no errors shown in Device Manager and the NICs are being identified correctly. I will try manually installing some drivers from a flash drive to see whether that works.

If you open up 'Network and Sharing Center' what type of network does it say that it's connected to? I've has 2012R2 installs incorrectly think they were on a public network and raise the firewall before.

Basic error guys: I messed up! The ethernet cable linking the switch that the server is plugged in to the core switch was unplugged :(. Thanks for all your suggestions though. I really appreciate you all helping out.
