cjwebster Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Hi, reviving an old thread here... I've just found Veyon and I can get AD users to authenticate but I'm having trouble getting it to populate computers from AD. Anyone know of a guide or can suggest some things to check?
NB9457 Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Hi, reviving an old thread here... I've just found Veyon and I can get AD users to authenticate but I'm having trouble getting it to populate computers from AD. Anyone know of a guide or can suggest some things to check? I had this, for what is was I just added them manually and saved the file for future reference. For the time I'd probably have spent getting it to work with AD, I spent a couple minutes just adding the PC names. Other than that can't fault it, works really well. I do worry about the security side a bit, but should be ok. Be good if they add logon, that'd be a god send.
protocol Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Seems the best place to ask this. I'm trialling Veyon here and from what I know I have everything setup correctly (wasn't sure if public and private keys were necessary so left them at default). I've set up a couple of rules based on certain scenarios. For example I've set a "All Computers" one linked to the domain admins security group and another with the name of one of our IT Suites which is linked to security group named after the room and I've put a test member of staff in there. My issue is that when I login to Veyon Master as this test user, they are able to access the entire domain computer AD structure and not just the IT Suite defined in the access control rule. Any ideas? I know on the likes of AB Tutor you could define which user could see what computers and I'm wanting to replicate that in Veyon. Am I missing something obvious? I thought the "Accessing computer is located in same room as local computer" would be the setting that forced the user(s) in the security group to only be able to see and connect to computers in the same room.

I setup and configured ITALC many moons ago to be able to only access the PC's in the room from the teacher PC but also to be able to select which room to connect to from the System Admin PC. I have just learnt of Veyon and wondered if this was possible to have the same scenario? There doesn't seem to be much documentation on Veyon and from what I have found today, instruction videos are not in English. Can anyone confirm or deny the setup possibilities and point me in the right direction to configure a deployment. Many thanks

This is the 'best' English setup and configuration video I've found but they limit Veyon to connect to one room only on the tutorial.

clareq Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 We're looking at this at the moment - along with other classroom management software. How do people find it?

ShellfishClive Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 Has anyone got an issue with this when using Photoshop? If Veyon is used to monitor the class, when students go to open a document or import a Photo to Photoshop the file explorer window just hangs. As soon as Veyon disconnects it loads straight up. Any ideas?
