Need to buy SSL Certificate - Which one?

Hi,

Never had to buy a SSL Cert before, need one for our TASC Insight server.

Looking at Go daddy https://uk.godaddy.com/web-security/ssl-certificate/options/add-ons?src=ac&plan=ssl_001sites_tier1_024mo can anyone adviseon which one is best?

Have a look at https://letsencrypt.org/. They do free certs.

+1 for lets encrypt. It may be helpful to point you in the direction of a windows implemention I use: letsencrypt-win-simple.

There are a large number of web host that do not support lets encrypt.

Godaddy is one of these.

So you may have to purchase one of Godaddys options.

A good reason to switch hosts if you're with GoDaddy!

If you don't want to faff with Let's Encrypt on Windows (we use it on Linux, but we'd don't use it for Java or IIS), go to Namecheap and spend £7 on a cert.

 

We use these for single-domain things: https://www.namecheap.com/security/ssl-certificates/comodo/positivessl.aspx

 

Or these if we want to use alternate names: https://www.namecheap.com/security/ssl-certificates/comodo/positivessl-multi-domain.aspx

Have been out of this for a while, but the only company who accept purchase orders and had UK staff who actually understood dealing with and supporting schools were Comodo. Not the cheapest but certainly the best I’ve used.

We use JISC. They sell to any educational establishment and are very good. Cheap as well.
