failnator Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Hi Guys, We currently are using StarTech adapters to connect our PC`s to the projectors in the classrooms. We need to as the PC's only has HDMI ports and the projectors only have VGA ports. Just curious to see what other people are using? Or are you only using one or the other?
LeMarchand Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 StarTech? That's posh! When needed, I just get cheap jobbies from eBay. Mind you, I think I'm the only one using them regularly.
failnator Posted September 15, 2017 Author Posted September 15, 2017 (edited) Yes, we got a deal on them but we decided to go with an alternative. Edited September 15, 2017 by failnator
SamanthaD Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Only issue I can see is the audio side of things - if your PC suddenly decides to try and send audio down the HDMI instead of the 3.5mm jack. Otherwise what you're using is probably the best solution for now!
failnator Posted September 15, 2017 Author Posted September 15, 2017 These adapters have an audio split with them so its all sent into the adapter and then split into vga and audio
hardtailstar Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 We use these and these Although these are only used on office machines. All our projectors and laptops are VGA
localzuk Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 We use some of the cheap £6 things off Amazon!
DavR Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 We were being super posho and using Dell ones on some new machines that only came with HDMI - Dell - Video adapter - HDMI / VGA - black : Display Solutions | Dell We got these as a courtesy though, as Dell sent us PCs without VGA, despite us specifically asking for VGA. I took them out in the end in favour of discrete graphics cards, as with a VGA lead and often a splitter box hanging on the end of these, they were occasionally dropping out of the HDMI port. I could see a few years down the line the more delicate HDMI cable / connections getting broken.
asm Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 I just go with the cheapest I can find usually, they do the job and if they break aren't exactly burning a hole in anyone's pockets.
